CHEM 226 - Organic Chemistry II
A continuation of CHEM225 covering the structures, properties and reactions of aromatic compounds, carbonyl compounds, carboxylic acids and their functional derivatives, phenols, amines, organometallics, carbohydrates, amino acids and proteins. The course will introduce the study of spectral methods of structure determination and expand the study of organic synthesis and mechanisms. The laboratory will include experiments in spectroscopy, organic synthesis and mechanisms, qualitative organic analysis, and instrumental analysis. Prerequisite: CHEM225 with a grade of C (2.0) or better. (3,3) 4
